Ok guys this question is back since people have iPads to test it on!!
I wanna know how well the iPad can read and use PDF's, so like uploading and viewing the PDF's are primary concerns since all of the book type things i read are in PDF format :/
seems a lot of ppl are using goodreader for pdf's. i've dl'ed it but havent tried it out yet. what i did was use calibre and convert the pdf's to epub, but i didn't like how they came out, no zoom, etc. maybe once calibre updates it will turn out better, but you still won't be able to zoom it i believe.
i read on previous posts here and there that the best way is to conver PTF to HTML, fix the errors then convert to EPUB.... since im not an html junky that doesnt help me lol
It depends on your PDF, some convert nicely, some absolutly don't. Most of the time, it really depends on the fact if the guy who made you the pdf was able to do it right or not.

besides that... if you convert it to epub... can you import it into ibooks?
BTW this just came to my attention... i was using and old version and theres a new version with an actual iPad profile soo if someone could test that out and let us kno that would be great!!
I just tried the latest version of Calibre and have to say that I am still dissapointed. I am surprised there is not a reliable way to convert PDF to ePUB yet.
not to mention that a 300 page book turned into 1300 page book which is better than it was in the last version, last time it took the same book and made 3000 pages.
I have not seen it for myself but I have been told that Calibre works fine on books that have just text and not a lot of pictures. It just so happens everything I read is tech related so Calibre will not work for me.
