multiple icons in a row (more than four)

I would like to change the HUGE free space between the icons. I also would like to have at least 5 icons in a row, not just 4.

Is there any option to accomplish this? I am really lost. Can't be meant seriously by Apple how they ordered this.

I don't think there is a way to do this, maybe with winterboard if it exists for iPad?

There is no way to accomplish this. Maybe in iOS 4.0....

sorry I think this is not possible. Maybe Apple will heat the soudn and add this to iOS 4.
