i heard of these universal apps as well, will ipad apps run on the iphone to or will we see a split? any info from a developer if we will see all apps on both devices?
universal apps is one concept apple doesnt require but is trying to push for devs to use so that everyones happy
the idea is have 1 single app that is optimized to run on ipad and iphone in a way that when you run it it looks like it was made specifically for that platform, itll have both resource sets for the iphone and ipad and load them accordingly
apple wants to push that so itll be easier for devs to manage just one app instead of two different versions lol
this however is crap if you want to make your app as small as possible and still hold its quality...
take facbook.app or myspace.app for example, if they did a universal app, the end result would probably take up more space but it would just be only one app to keep track of
It won't, it's a revolution and will pick up like the iPhone had, give it a bit. We seen a much increasing interest in iPad software development, read the news. It will not fail, but I guess it will start off a new era in appstore.
If Apple continues introducing new rules and removing apps that have been in the store for months bcuz someone decided not to use parent filters, that could eventually bring down the appstore..... in several years tho
Well, I guess we will see that apple developes it's own way to handle things again. Remember the iphone lunch, no apps, virii and stuff. Now we have the appstore, apple's reaction on the free installer which people loved.
We will see the same with multitasking and other restrictions. I am pretty sure about that.
They try to establish the myth, that they invented the Appstore. In fact, they did not.
So everyone says "hey the apple apsstore was a unique invention", noone really thinks of installer anymore. The fact, that they even tried to kill the open app deveopment with full force, noone even knows.
